“So, you heard Widget, and you thought Gidget, and imagined a dainty little beach girl, didn’t you? Guess what? I’m not dainty. I’m not a girl – definitely a guy – and the closest I’ve been to a beach is this water bowl. I am Widget, and I say I am much more interesting than some little beach girl.”

“Come look at me. What you’ll see is a guy who is partly brown – I mean brown – and partly black – and some white stuff, too. And my ears – well, they’re white from the back and black from the front. I mean, you could study my colors and markings all day and never be bored. I’m fascinating – and that’s just to look. I’m calm and wise and quite studious, and I know many things. I am studying what’s outside this window right now. Guess what? It’s raining. No beach girls in the rain.”

“I’m only about a year old, but I have been sad. I think I had people friends once, but they lost me – or I lost them. I’ve come to Feline Rescue to get my happy back. The people here offer me food and happy. Most of the other cats here do, too. They say, ‘Widget, come run with us!’ They say, ‘Widget, come look at this! Is this a bug or a toy?’”

“I like it when people come who want to pet me. I like it even better when people come with dishes full of food. Want to climb up here and sit in the window with me? Do you have windows at your place that I could sit in – I mean, if you adopted me and took me home?”

“Tell you what – you just have to come visit me and help me get my happy back. You have to see me – these pictures don’t do me justice. They just don’t. No offense, lady with camera, but my people need to see me in person. Come on over – bring $120 – you’re going to take me home, and I’m going to be happy!”
