“Ayeee!! Laissez les bons temps rouler! That’s what a good Cajun Cat says on Saturday night – and, sometimes, Friday night, too. Sometimes he even says it when he wakes up in the morning, because he’s a true Cajun guy, and that’s my name – Cajun! I am black and white, supremely tuxedo, a year or two old. I spent at least one life playin’ washboard in a Cajun band, down in Lafayette, Louisiana. That’s ‘loozana’ to you.”
“ I don’t know what ‘Ayeee!’ means, but you can guess by the sound of it. Laissez les bons temps rouler means ‘let the good times roll’ – and that’s what I’m doing here – rollin’ the good times, rollin’. I’m a good time guy – what else could a Cajun guy be?”
“I’m a mellow guy – not much rattles me. Not much rattles most of us Cajuns – less’n you insult our mamma or something. I like to lay back, stretch out, show off my white and black fur. Ayeee! Oh, yeah, rub my neck, talk to me. I keep my tuxedo on at all times, in case I get the call to play washboard in some tony place where the band needs to be well-dressed.”
“Now, I know you’ve heard of ‘the long tall woman in a black dress’ and also of ‘she walks these hills in a long black veil’ – but, pay attention, you’re about to see and hear Cajun, ‘long guy cat with a long black tail’. Because it’s what I’ve got – a ‘long black tail’, an excellent black tail on an excellent tuxedo cat – Cajun! I am looking for you! Ayeee!”
“Rub my neck – feel my muscles – I am a strong, long cat – a Cajun cat, a good times cat, a rolling cat. Bring me some jambalaya, crawfish pie, and file gumbo – some fishy stuff for a great Cajun guy. Just $120 , less than dinner at Galatoire’s or Antoine’s, and you end up with a fabulous, friendly tuxedo guy – me – Cajun! Laissez les bons temps rouler!”
