“Hello! Are you looking for someone? I am someone. I am Benny, and I am also looking for someone, maybe something. I am a solid, gentle, black and white cat fellow. I am a young cat fellow, probably 2 to 4 years old. I remember that I used to be somewhere else, and it was OK, but it wasn’t great. All of a sudden I found myself all alone, sitting outside Feline Rescue’s door. Someone said, ‘See ya, Cat. Good luck.’ I felt deserted. I was deserted.”

“I walk through these rooms looking for something, someone. Maybe I lost my mittens. Maybe I am hungry. Maybe I am just curious, but I walk and I sniff and I look. I am Benny, the guy with the cute little back dot on my nose. I am Benny the guy, the very best guy, and I am lonely. I need someone I can trust. I do not think I can trust that fluffy girl who keeps burbling and pouncing on my tail.  Pounce on your own tail, woman. I am Benny, and I have not offered my tail for your amusement!”

“I like people. I like people a lot. I especially like guy people. I can talk guy stuff with guy people. I am understood! I like sitting in people laps. Before I settle in, though, I need to explore a little more, try to figure out what it is I’m looking to find. Did I lose it? Did I ever have it? Maybe I imagined it. And, oh, oh. It is October; maybe I’ve seen – or smelled – a ghost. We cats do smell them before we see them. Oh, yes.”

I finally figured out that you’re not under that kennel nor in Mya’s basket. You’re right here – sitting in this chair, offering Benny a lap. Sure do hope you’ve got $120 in your pocket – so we can go to your place – and I can explore!”
