My name’s Nori. Like the stuff that wraps sushi, ya know? Me and my two sisters, Sashimi and Maki, are the sushi kittens, and we’re a group of playful, young, and NOT identical gray kittens. And I say we’re not identical, because everyone that sees us thinks we look exactly the same. But foster mom would like to say that it’s not that hard to tell us apart. She could do it by day two! So if you decide to adopt me with one of my siblings, pretty soon, you’ll be able to peer at the kitten that slides across the floor after a ping pong ball and say, “Ah, that’s Nori!”, just by looking at its face. And yes, that kitten would be me! Well, actually, that’s not quite true because all of us sushi kittens are crazy about toys!
Toys. Oh, toys are probably some of my favorite things! I love those ping pong balls, the catnip toys, the cat springs, paper bag handles, and just about anything that moves or can be batted around the floor. And just about my favorite thing is the long piece of fabric that is attached to a stick. Foster mom brings it in somedays. When I see that she’s got it, I begin to wriggle with excitement. And as soon as I see the end of it hit the ground, zooom, there I go, chasing it this way and that. Zoom zoom zoom. Behind the furniture. Zoom zoom zoom. Around the dresser. Zoom zoom boing. Onto the table. Zoom boing. On top of the dresser. Chomp! I got it! Plop, I hop down off the dresser and try to take the toy to my lair. But then I’ll drop it to examine it and zoom, off it goes again!
Foster mom says I’m one of the best toy catchers she’s ever met! And that says a lot because she’s had 30 foster kitties now! Foster mom says for other cats, she goes easy on them so that they can catch the toy, but for me, she actually has to try really hard to keep the toy away from me because I’m so fast! And she’s not good enough for me, because I still catch all the time. When she begins to put the toy away, I’ll look at the toy and give her pleading eyes. But she says she can’t leave it with me because it can be a choking hazard for kittens. Darn, but then I’ll spot another toy or one of my sisters’ tails and I’ll forget all about it until it comes out again. Or maybe I’ll come to foster mom to get petted a bit, but I’m not the cuddly type. I really love it when foster mom’s in the room with us, but I’m definitely not one to get hugged or snuggled. Maybe when I’m older and have quieted down some I will, but not now.
So come pay me and my sisters a visit. We’d love to meet you and show you our kitty antics! And I can show you how lightning fast I am! All you need in your home — besides basic kitty necessities of course — is loving hands and a ton of toys. And I’d love it if you had one of those sticks with the piece of fabric on it! Oh, and I need a playmate. How about one of my sushi sisters? (Sashimi or Maki or all three of us!)
Come visit me in my foster home. I'd love to meet you.
